The Singapore Expo is the largest convention and trade exhibition venue in Singapore and is the most highly and completely equipped center in all of Asia. It was first built in 1997 and was officially opened in 1999. Due to its remote location as compared to the old Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Center (also known as Suntec Convention and Exhibition Center) and the untimely Asian Financial Crisis, the halls turned out to be under utilized during the first few years.
With the opening of the Expo MRT station in January of 2001 however, the venue was given a positive boost and by 2003, the demand for a larger exhibition Bachelor party space prodded the Singapore Expo to then push through with its expansion plans. To its already 60,000 sqm area, another 40,000 sqm expansion was added.
To date, the Expo center is composed of ten large multipurpose halls that are 10,000 square meters in floor area per hall and are interlinked to be able to provide a total of 100,000 square meters of column free indoor space.
